I haven't been to very many of them. I like New Hope and Doylestown, which aren't on the list. Cute little towns in semi-rural Bucks County. Close to Philadelphia but a world away.
Yes. I intentionally omitted Philadelphia and Pittsburgh because whenever one discusses Pennsylvania they always unfairly "steal" your attention. Both cities are awesome in their own distinctive ways, but I know if I would have included them in this poll, they'd garner 99.9999% of the votes.
Philadelphia is my favorite city in PA. I think it's quite underrated and always have. But I see you are going for smaller ones, so....I was pleasantly surprised with Harrisburg. For a small city, it was fairly lively. Bethlehem is nice, too.
I'm also partial to Milford, though that's not really anybody's idea of a city. PA is actually my third-favorite state, as I just said in another thread, so...I like it!

Philadelphia is a city that I hope continues to rebound. Center City is actually the third most densely-populated residential neighborhood in the United States, and other neighborhoods like Manayunk and Roxborough, for example, as well as the Far Northeast, are pretty stable and attractive. Unfortunately a lot of other parts of the city still look like bombed-out holes thanks to "White Flight."
Harrisburg has a very high crime rate for a city of 50,000, but its Uptown, Midtown, and Downtown neighborhoods continue to rebound. Bethlehem is quite possibly my favorite medium-sized city in the state (yes, even nicer than Scranton!) Milford is a quaint little town, albeit it is becoming more congested with each passing year as it is becoming "discovered" by the NY/NJ crowd.
The only cities I like in Pennsylvania are Erie and Harrisburg. Erie is really pretty. It still has a pretty depressed feel in particular areas, but it is generally not as gritty as other inland cities in Pennsylvania. The lake views from parts of the city that are up on the ridge are very nice, too. Presque Isle is extremely nice, especially on a summer evening when the Sun is setting over the lake. Erie has a very different feel from the rest of Pennsylvania. It feels more like a city in New York or Ohio.
Harrisburg is nice, as well. It feels a lot larger than it really is, has a very cosmopolitan feel about it, and has quite a large African-American population compared to the surrounding area. I remember riding through Harrisburg and finding a nice smooth jazz radio station. That automatically put Harrisburg on my good list. The fact that the city doesn't even have 50,000 people and has the skyline of a city that could have 200,000 people is amazing.
I do too! I have hundrends of photos of Tremont but none of my favorite city. When you go I reccomend you get pictures of the former Necho Allen Hotel, Thompson Building, and Masonic Temple. The Courthouse, City Hall, and post office are all worthy too. Heck, take a picture over everything, its all so pretty.
