I'm planning to drive from NM to PA in a few weeks times. Prices have dropped some here, but I am wondering what to expect in Kansas, Missouri and due East.

I know the prices will vary, even in a few days, but I wouldn't mind having a general idea of what to expect and be prepared

Regular is $2.27 today--and is generally, about 20cents higher than the rest of State.

Thanks.

The lowest I saw today was $1.89 in Springfield. Honest! Even I was surprised!

Me, too! I heard it was under $2.00 this week in Albuquerque so I was wondering how it is elsewhere.

Thanks, Mark.

I don't know if this is a common practice in the midwest, but I've noticed that the gas prices fluctuate here in Kalamazoo by 20 cents or more on a daily basis. The other day gas was 1.87, then the next it was 2.05, then 2.25, then a day later back to 2.11. I'm not really sure why, but I've never experienced this type of bizarre price jumping so often. Usually in my experience gas prices don't go up or down by $.25 cents that often, unless there is some sort of reason that supply has been cut or something (hurricanes, etc.). Anybody else experience this?

It does happen here in Taos. And as I have to pass about a dozen stations I am acutely aware even of the 2cents differences I see. In the past few months, I can go out in the AM and find one price and come home and find another.

It is strange! And I thought it was our kriminlz

This happens to me all the time! I have to commute and I see that it is cheap when I'm out the door in the morning and by the time I get off work it has gone up a quarter. So frustrating....

I filled up my Toyota Tacoma to full on November 29th and didn't visit a gas station again until Jan. 5th!!!! The weather of course had a lot to do with keeping my driving down as I don't like driving on ice and snow as my truck is a light truck and slips and slides without weight in the bed over the back axle, but I just cut back my normal "cruising".
I have a half tank right now...I may drive into Springfield again tomorrow and see about filling up. I went there today for Chinese food at a particular place I had a craving for..YUM...., but I need to do some shopping too. SO.....Hopefully it'll be under $1.90 tomorrow morning

I saw $2.10 today in Cook County suburbs, where gasoline is taxed by about 382 different revenue-collecting agencies. I suspect, then, that it's below $2/gal in the non-metro part of Illinois. Even in the city I've seen it as low as $2.25.

I just realized that you've written above that you'll be driving through Missouri. If you're coming from New Mexico, my guess is that you'll drive on 40 into the Texas Panhandle through Amarillo, follow it through Oklahoma City where you'll switch to I-44 and then pass through Tulsa and enter Missouri at Joplin...Is that your path?
If it is, I'll give you my cell number and when you hit Joplin, give me a call and I'll take you to lunch in Springfield on your way through
