No way, Boston is the undisputed leader in academia.

Harvard
MIT
Tufts
BU
BC
Wellesley
Brandeis

Not to mention about a 100 other lesser known schools. Pick any academic field and its likely many (or most) of the leaders in that field are in Boston (mostly Harvard and MIT).

SF vs Boston...

SF's Stanford Engineering spawned SiliconValley and countless centimillionaires/billionaires...

Many of SV's best engineers are alums of Berkeley Engineering...

Boston's Harvard undergrad has produced many smart/wealthy hedge fund mgrs...but most migrate to NYC/Greenwich/SF after graduation

MIT is an excellent engineering school, but its alums have created minimal tech wealth in Boston region....most smart MIT alums seem to migrate to SiliconValley...

After Boston I think NYC Metro has the best universities with Princeton and Columbia plus others. SF Bay Area only has two good schools (Cal and Stanford) and isn't any better than LA (UCLA/Cal Tech) with respect to top notch universities.

Lol!

Massachusetts, hands down. Then L.A., then Bay Area (Stanford, Berk, Hastings, USF).
