Actually looks like something you might see in France or Belgium, especially if you removed the round central tower and added a couple of floors to the main part of the building. Very classic European palace looking building.

I like SF, LA, Baltimore but Philadelphia is the classic city hall, towering from the true center of the city at Broad and Market streets. I don't think any other City Hall is so prominent in it's skyline.

Wow. When I last looked at this thread about 5 years ago it was in the midst of a huge Philly vs. Buffalo discussion. I love some of the really unique buildings that have been posted since then!

I think if Detroit's had a recladding a la UN building, it'd look pretty nice.

Old city hall was a pretty good gem of the city, but it doesn't really look all that different from other cities' halls that were posted here.

Don't know if this one has been posted yet (it's a long thread!), but this is Seattle's new City Hall, completed a few years ago:

It was built to be very "green," and even has a living roof.
