I'm a Northern city guy myself, and I hear Minneapolis/St. Paul has the largest fine arts concentration out of any city in the United States behind New York City. It's also among the most highly-educated, most economically-diversified, and most accepting of different cultures, according to many national polls and studies. As I arise a bit from my depression, I'm thinking a change of scenery may do me a world of good, which is why the Twin Cities has been at the top of my list for relocation options in the future.
Out of that list, Denver would the best city in my opinion, but then Colorado Springs is my hometown so I am a bit biased.
Denver has a reasonable of cost of housing/apartments for a medium sized metro area. The people are great, laid-back and extremely friendly (far friendlier then my hometown). The restaurants are great and extremely reasonable. Climate is very moderate overall except for the very low humidity. Its also a very-well planned and outdoorsy city with tons of outdoors recreation.
Which is the best state or city to live in or relocate to right now?
Looking for:
Booming economy, low crime, great to raise a family, affordable housing, lots of jobs or Entrepreneur Friendly, friendly genuine people, arts and culture, four seasons, racial diversity, low cost of living, high quality of life, Lots of outdoor activites but access to great museums, Farmers markets, beautiful city and outskirts, green beautiful countryside, large selection of ethnic restaurants (i'm vegetarian), open-minded people. Does such a place exist? If I am describing your town or you have been to such a place....please share!!
Some that come to mind: Denver, Chicago, Albuquerque. Of course not all fit all your criteria, but theyre close. Of the 3 I recommended, Chicago probably comes closest.

I'm actually visiting Denver at the end of the month. So that should be interesting. I just got back from Albuquerque last night and didn't care for it. The people were extremely friendly but the city seemed rundown and it was not very attractive. Mountains were so far away and brown like here in Phoenix. I'm looking for green rolling hills, broad leaf forests, fields of flowers. LOL Maybe it all only exists in my imagination. I am considering Chicago. I have spent time there many years ago and liked it alot. Doesn't it have high crime though?
Portland Oregon is a very nice city with SOME of the attributes you are looking for.
Which ones? And what does it lack? Need more info please. portland is actually on my list but I am worried about the rain, drizzle and dreary skies. I may be misinformed about the weather though. I need residents input.
Never been to Philly but Im sure they have alot of that there too.Alot of the Midwest states have everything you want except the good economy.
