I was in New York City and Chicago and my parents were rather appalled at the language. I just accepted that that was how they did things in their place.
Sure, I know a lot of people who curse(and myself sometimes) but they don't do it where kids, elderly, or most general people can hear.
I know this guy that moved here from Chicago and he has the wrost mouth I have ever heard on someone, this old man says things I would never think of and he dosent tone it down all that much when he's talking about women in public.
I noticed when I moved here from Iowa people in Chicago swear much more in public than they ever did back at home. I could care less, and actually I felt a little more "at home" because I tend to have a very active potty mouth.
It was kinda funny to see sales people in stores randomly pulling out 4 letter words in front of customers, and everyone on the train or walking down the streets seems to have no concept that swear words aren't used in all settings.

haha.
that is very true
i think every train ride on the orange line had resulted in language polluted air not from just me but the other riders as well
I'm from KY and I immediately noticed how much more everyone swears up here. Our Monday morning work meetings usually start off with a few f-bombs and dirty jokes before leading into our actual meeting.
I like the openness of the culture. People are definately a lot more direct, but they don't pull any punches. You know where Chicagoans stand immediately and how they feel about you.
