I get the point, sometimes I find the same thing with San Diego and South Dakota and also some people will put NE for Northeast, when NE is Nebraska. Not a big deal, got bigger things to worry about.

I also see NE used for New England. So being in the Northeast, which includes New England, it's not always clear which group of states people are referring to when they mention "the NE states."

with me... i just usually say the whole name (whether it be los angeles or lousiana).

it can be confusing but just as long you differentiate it, i don't see why it can cause problems.

It's to confusing please I ask you to do it like this:

L.A.

well actually you should decide if this way (L.A.) should win for punctuating Los Angeles. If that way wins then that is how we will punctuate Los Angeles on here if this way wins (LA) than you have to punctuate it like that for now on, O.K. let the debate begin.

I've lived in L.A. my entire life, and I've never had the pleasure of visiting LA.

LA means Los Angeles. Nothing against the state of Louisiana (go Tigers, by the way!), but in the context of this forum (except for maybe the Louisiana forum) LA, L.A., la, ellay, however you want to spell it, means Los Angeles 95% of the time. The whole thing of abbreviating a state with the postal code kind of goes hand and hand with California/ LA speak anyway.
