Now, not having experienced an earthquake, I would stay the heck away from there no matter what, right now, but that could be a wimpy reaction.
Have you ever been visiting a place when some kind of disaster struck like an earthquake, tornado, major hurricane, huge blizzard, wildfires, major flooding, volcano eruption, etc.? If so, tell us about it.
I've been in minor hurricanes, never major ones. My grandparents have a house on the Outer Banks of NC. We rode a few out down there. Few things are more unnerving than being on a 1/4 mile wide sandy spit of land 4 miles out from the mainland with a peak elevation of 10 ft during a storm event with a forecasted surge of 15 ft.
I have. I was in Cancun right after Hurricane Wilma, and it was unreal - to say the least. What is really crazy is that today you can't really tell it ever happened, and it was worse than Katrina.
Can't really say the same thing for our own Gulf coast, which to me is an absolute crime.

DURING the 1960s alone about 400,000 people died in the exceptionally high tides which swept in along the low lying northern coast of the Bay of Bengal under the force of tropical cyclones. Over half of these lives were lost in the single surge caused by the storm of November 1970.
Notice to mariners for this event was to lookout for bodies floating about.
there was a tornado once in brooklyn and it woke me up. there were some great blizzards too. I was in a place where a disaster struck, I can't count blizzards and a tornado a "disaster" all the blizzards ever did was give us a day off, and the tornado broke some windows big deal I think weve had a hurricane too when I was a kid.
There was a tornado here in Brooklyn last August. The first one to touch down here since 1889. As a matter of fact, it was only about two and a half miles from my building--and my apartment faces the area where it came down. That was more than enough tornado for one lifetime. I have no idea how people live their whole lives in the Midwest tornado belt.
I was actually in the capital building when the tornado touched down on the grounds of the capital. I have before and after photos of trees that were uprooted. Of course, when I took the before photos, I had no idea the trees would be gone an hour later.
