Default Charleston, S.C. or New Orleans?

I really enjoyed New Orleans and thought the French Quarter was such fun but I haven't been back since the hurricane so I don't know what it is like now. The folks there were very friendly and helpful. Of course, the food was great. My brother actually had his honeymoon there but it was in the summer and way too hot at that time for him. However, I personally would choose Charleston, S. C. for me. It is one of the prettiest towns that I have ever been to. To me, it is more laid back and the food is great there as well. If you love seafood, you have to try the she crab soup. I also love Savannah, Ga. It has the beautiful rich history and gorgeous streets. A little more spread out than Charleston, great food as well. You can tell I like to eat.All three places are fun to shop for antiques. In these areas, you might check the weather at this time because it may be the rainy season. If it were me, I would see what would be the best prices for all three places and compare. But stay close in the town part so you can walk to most places. Good Luck and any of the three would be great IMO.

New Orleans is one of the best cities to visit in America I think. The culture, food, history, people, architecture, atmosphere, etc..are all so unique and one of a kind to the region. I've always had a great time when I've gone and it's one of my favorite cities overall. It's not that expensive either and fairly cheap, especially the drinks. The food is AMAZING too, best meals I've ever had in my life were from some of the great restaurants in New Orleans. It's a bigger and more unique city than Charleston and I think there would be more to do. But Charleston seems more quaint so that might be better for a honeymoon depending on what you want to do.

These two towns have two very distinct personalities.....which one fits you best.

I just can't picture Marti Gras going on in Charleston.

Charleston. I love great food, I love great jazz, I love to party. But New Orleans has always been an overrated place to me. Basically one overpriced entertainment district amidst a sea of poverty.

But December? Not exactly and ideal time to visit either in my opinion. Don't you want to be someplace warmer than that? I bet a lot of places are dealing.

I love both of those cities, but I think Charleston is more romantic. It's certainly cleaner. Then again, New Orleans has spectacular food...
