I'm not too familiar with Greater Miami, but San Diego is rated to have a good quality of life because of the weather and low crime rate. The downside of S.D. is cost of living, but quality of life isn't cheap, which is why Japan is so expensive.

Affordability is important. England is a semi-third world country in terms of living standard yet it's very expensive. London in particular.
Agreed. But ONLY if you detach the concept of home affordability from quality of living. Miami is more expensive than a lot of cities, but San Diego is off-the-charts expensive. The home prices are coming down presently, but not enough to make it affordable to average folks.
Although I don't really care for SD, Miami is a cesspool. The only advantage Miami has is far nicer beaches (other than Miami Beach). SD is cleaner, safer, better for raising a family and more educated.
