What Metro Area in the country has the best Regional Shopping Centers? You know, those big huge indoor malls with four or five large Department Stores and 200+ smaller stores.

Is there a huge Shopping Mall that you have visited that really impressed you as something extra special?

I hear Atlanta has a lot. I know when I used to live in Charlotte, NC that's all we seemed to do is go from mall to mall to mall.

The Mall of Georgia (NE of Atlanta in the burbs) is supposedly the largest mall in the Southeast region of the U.S. (at least in terms of square footage).

The rest of Atlanta's malls are pretty much standard sized suburban cookie cutter malls.

There is of course, the Mall of America in Minnesota which is the largest mall in the U.S., and the West Edmonton mall (http://www.westedmall.com/home/default.asp - broken link) in Alberta Canada which is the largest in North America if you're looking for "crazy huge" malls.

Woodfield is huge, and the most popular. Oakbrook Center is the largest outdoor mall in the states I believe, or at least it was. Gurnee Mills is also very large and nice, never been to Orland Square though. Other mentions are teh Chicago Premium Outlets, Westfield Shoppingtown Fox Valley, Stratford Square, and Charlestowne.

NYC metro no doubt..

Paramus, NJ grosses one of the most amounts of money a year of selling.. and Paramus, NJ has one of the strictest Blue Laws (which is for all of Bergen county meaning no shopping on Sunday because it's the day of worship) at the same time..

So NYC metro.

The mall which boasts itself as the Bay Area's biggest (The Great Mall) is also probably the ugliest and in the worst location. People bag on Santana Row for being fake but at least it's nice and lively in the center of the valley.

Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines surprises people quite a bit. 17th largest mall in the US and very nice.
