Conservatives against equal rights?

It was Republicans in the North who opposed slavery, while Democrats wanted to continue slavery. Since that time the south has become more Republican and the North has become more democratic, but back before the Civial War it was just the opposite.

Abraham Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation... he was a Republican.

It was Republicans that supported the 1965 Voting Rights Act, while Democrats opposed it.

It was Republicans in Wyoming that pushed for the right of women to vote. Democrats fought it.

It was Democrats who fought against firearms ownership by blacks.

The KKK was founded by southern Democrats.

All true history. Do the research yourself.

The problem with Republicans isn't that they're against equal rights. The problem with Republicans is that they have allowed Democrats to brainwash people into thinking that Republicans are the bad guys.

There is no such thing as 'Gay Rights'. Gays have the same constitutionally protected rights as anyone else. If you argue that a gay man can't marry another man I would point out that I, a man, am also not permitted to marry a man.

Regarding the ERA... Senator Charles Curtis and Representative Daniel R. Anthony, Jr.—both Republicans and both from Kansas—introduced it for the first time as Senate Joint Resolution No. 21 on December 10, 1923, and as House Joint Resolution No. 75 on December 13, 1923, respectively. Most Republican opposition to it today is on the basis of the expanded power it gives to the federal government, not to mention that fact that much of what constitutes the ERA has been separately legislated and made law.

Kerry and Gore got around 90% of the black vote as well. Its not a black thing, but a democrat thing.

Democrats have done an amazing job of indoctrination.
Funny thing is, there's still Democrats in Arkansas that are mad at the Republicans over the Civil War...

Blacks still have to prove something to themselves and others.

If you notice, I wrote conservatives, not Republicans and Democrats. If you remember, the Democrats of the past are now Republicans of today. The Democratic Party went liberal and the Republican Party went conservative and took the conservatives from the Democratic Party. Do the research on that. It's not hard for Democrats to convince people that Republicans are the bad guys, when conservatives in the Republican party try to block the renewal of the Civil Rights acts it shows their true colors.

Last I checked a gay person can be fired for simply being gay, they can be refused medical treatment for simply being gay, some states ban adoption by gays, other sates allow discrimination in housing against gays, and in many states, gays aren't allowed hospital visits to their partners.
