The Great Plains/Midwest is the place with the neutral accent and these aren't very well balanced options.

I don't doubt that Californians believe that to be true. As for the rest of us...let's just say that there are differences of opinion!

While California does have the highest population, it does have some serious contenders with states like New York, Florida, and Texas. I wouldn't say California is the most powerful state; I don't really think it could easily survive without the rest of the nation.

And by the way, the wording of option #2 was extremely ridiculous. Of course "shows are filmed there," but does that make a state more "powerful"? Of course it is strong economically, but others have strong economies as well. And what is a "cali accent"?

I think it can survive quite well, or even better without the drag of the rest of the states- of which there is no peer with numbers. All other states are mid-sized.
