Tokyo is awesome! The most impressive city in the world with it's all out technology and flashy neon lights everywhere. New York is a great city too however. Tokyo is like a newer and more modern version of NYC, with all the post-modern architecture. NYC has more classic architectural icons such as the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building, which also makes it unique. However NYC is proposing a lot of new and futuristic skyscrapers that will blend well with the older ones in Manhatten.

You do know that manhattan has 70,000 people per sq/mi it has 4 skylines it has the biggest CBD in the world, financial capital, fashion capital, number 1 global city, 2nd largest media capital(behind la), architecture capital, etc Manhattan is not the only place in NYC Dont forget Brooklyn Queens Bronx. Culture capital. Talk about expensive but NYC is in the top 15 most expensive cities. Tokyo is not. Architecture alot of the buildings in Tokyo are plain concrete buildings. NYC as a whole is 27000 people per sq mi NYC gained 46 million visitors last year. The Japanese know that ny is the place to be that's why they put the only nintendo store in the world in NYC. There were more Japanese tourist last Year. Our average living standards are better. The average size home in America would be expensive to the average Japanese person if they had the same size home. With nearly 6000 high rises it has the second highest number of high rises behind shang hai at 7300. And most sian cities are to adult oriented. With world famous festivals, events, parades, museums, etc NYC is a place for everyone. With the biggest office complex in the world world trade center but they were destroyed but we are rebuilding it and it will still have it's title. NYC is also the shopping capital of the world. It also has the highest number of upscale shopping districts in the world. The biggest store in the world which is the first Macys located in NYC. Unlike Tokyo NYC has many homegrown cultures. Tokyo can't compare. More times squares just becuase one place has billboards that does not mean it's times square. Herald square has billboards, union square has billboards. Times square is the cross roads of the world because of it's many restruants, attractions, theatres, offices, clubs, tv shows, etc it has the largest numberof billboards and it has the tallest LCD billboard and the most advance lcdhd billboard in the world.

1. Times Square, New York City, N.Y.:
35 million

This Manhattan crossroads of commerce topped Forbes Traveler's global tourist attraction list, so it's no surprise that it's number one here, too. A study cited by the Times Square Alliance estimates an average of more than 2,000 pedestrians traversing a block of 7th Avenue during a 15-minute weekday period. On New Year's Eve, more than one million revelers pack Times Square.

Its all hype! People go there but when they get there they don't know what to do so they empty their wallets out.
its all a scheme to get people there to spend money, aka "tourist trap."
