10. Toss up between Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Minnesota, or Hawaii
Ohio?? I would disagree, lots of people are leaving Ohio for the South. Thirty years ago I would say it was one of the more powerful states, but not today.
Well, if you're talking about football, its Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Michigan, Florida, California, Alabama, and then there's not much after that.
LOL @ some of your states on this lists for football? Nebraska and Oklahoma does not belong on this list. Where is Ohio, Georgia, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania? All have much more talent than Nebraska and Oklahoma.
Something like...
1. CA
2. TX
3. NY
4. VA
5. IL
6. FL
7. PA
8. MI
9. MA
10. WA
California is an easy 1 simply due to size. Texas takes 2 for same reason. Both have several metros with specific niches. NY takes 3 simply for having the most important city in the new world.
I settled on Virginia in this position for its govt influence. If DC was part of Maryland that would have been above VA but as it is Maryland is mostly suburbs for DC while Virginia has the head of US defense and other government buildings. Illinois has Chicago and is an historic hub for agriculture based out of several other states Florida has a lot of people.....come to think of it, it's pretty useless. Pennslyvania- Philly, Pittsburgh, some other key cities. It's a key player. Ohio could be here just as easily. Michigan- uhhhh....cars? I dunno. Detroit is an important city...and Canadas right there! Massachusetts- I'm from there and suprisingly it seemed to be on everyone else's lists so I felt entitled to add it. Washington- **** Bill Gates. There is my top NINE.
