Depends on your desires, myself SD hands down...used to work at the Naval base in SD....you may want to wait until the fires are down to manageable..LA is nice, just not my cup of tea..
I want to get out of this boring hellhole on the island...where in CALI should i move?
Long Island is pretty boring, I don't know how everyone raves about it. Have you thought about NYC?
If I was to pick I would pick San Diego most likely. The weather seems nicer, less smog, and less traffic. But LA area would be more comparable to Long Island.
What are you looking for in a city? Do you prefer a large city or a smaller city with a suburban feel? Do you prefer culture and diversity or a laid-back beach and surfer atmosphere. What are your political views? You don't have to answer that, just take into consideration that Los Angeles is more liberal, while San Diego is more conservative (or at least was, but the 2008 elections reflected that there were more Obama votes in S.D. County, while the county won Bush in 2004). The pros of San Diego is that it's more laid-back, lower cost of living, less traffic, cleaner, and has less crime than Los Angeles but the cons are that it can be boring and underwhelming to those who prefer a world class metropolis with a lot of culture, diversity, energy, and excitement. Los Angeles has a lot of new developments to be excited for, such as L.A. Live (a venue that rivals New York's Times Square). Also the mass transit Metro system is improving. Still not on par with NYC, S.F., or Chicago, but imo better than San Diego's trolley and Coaster system, which is more limiting.
