In New Jersey/New York area, our traffic signals turns directly to green from red, but from green to red, there's also yellow. In Europe, from red to green, it's red, yellow lights together, few seconds after it turns to green, so you'll get ready to be green.
Is there any places in the U.S. that is same like Europe's traffic signal lights?
Wow, are you saying Europeans are so numb they can't tell when a light goes green without a warning first?
No offense to any Europeans who may read this, but it gets old fast when somebody comes here and constantly ******* about the way things are done in the US.
Some of the left turn traffic lights around Metro Detroit go from Red solid light to Yellow blinking left arrow and then to Green left Arrow solid light. I think we are becoming a little bit European. A lot of Traffic circles are popping up, which I love since I hate being stuck at a long red traffic light.
I guess thats like the signs. Most all of the countries that I have lived in or traveled to have the same signs.....but, the U.S. I guess we just had to be different, lol.
Well, most cars in Europe are manuel, while in the U.S. all cars are automatic. So they need to have time to manuel their car to nr 1 on it
Are traffic signals automatic?
All cars are automatics in the US? Jeeze I wonder how I ended up with most of my manuals I have owned over the years. I have drove manual transmission cars for decades, I don't need a warning light to let me know to get ready to go when a light turns green. That is the lamest excuse I have every heard.
That doesn't make sense to me. I can just look at the other light turning red and I'll know that my light is about to turn green. A warning light just makes people more anxious and they might just go before it turns green.

Good point, yellow stands for "Caution" so technically you could go on Yellow while the other road also has a yellow showing. Sounds like a ambulance chasing lawyers dream situation. So if you can proceed with caution on a yellow light, isn't that the same exact thing as the light turning directly green, because everybody DOES still check the other lanes of traffic before jetting out into the intersection... right?
