In Chicago alcohol hours are from 6am until 5am on the weekends, or 23 hours.
The bars that stay open until 5am normally don't tend to be the set of bars that open up at 6am here in the city. The 6am bars were normally for 3rd shift workers, usually manufacturing. Since only 8% of the metro area jobs are now manufacturing, a lot of those bars have adjusted the hours as their demand has dropped.
On the weekdays the hours are 6am to 4am.
Sunday though alcohol can't be sold until 8am.
Actually, it's 7am when bars can open at the earliest in the city of Chicago, so for a bar with a late night license(most Chicago late night licensed bars don't open that early, in my experience visiting bars), one could theoretically be open for 22 hours if they wanted to. I recall hearing about a former bar in Lake View(where I believe Wilde is today), that actually did this! Sunday through Friday bars with a regular Chicago bar license close at 2am(4am with a late night bar license, only something like 1 out of every 6 or 7 bars has this license and it's tough to get, unless residential neighbors don't object to a bar getting it), and closing time is extended to 3am(5am for late night bars) only on Saturday nights.
In nearby suburbs and outlaying towns in the rest of Illinois, bar opening and closing times can be sometimes earlier or later. Or sometimes in Illinois, they can be more restrictive than Chicago's opening and closing times. I recall for example, Bloomington and also Normal, IL's bar closing time(when I used to attend Illinois State University) was 1am Sunday through Thursday night, and 2am on Friday and Saturday night. I recall being amused when I recall while being in Fox Lake, IL, that one bar advertised opening at 6am!
It's at 1:30 AM in many bars in LA. For being the "entertainment capital of the world", having such a party image that it does, and being the second biggest city in the USA one would think that last call would go past 1:30....

I rack my brain trying to figure out why people think LA has a party image. I think more people just assume that it should given the fact that Hollywood is the major industry and young people + sunshine must = party atmosphere. I really don't get why people are let down when LA never marketed itself as a party city.
I've in bars in both San Francisco and Boston where the last call was earlier than 2:00AM. It was more like "you're out the door at 2:00AM" rather than you were buying your last drink at 2:00AM.

I used to work at a restaurant/bar in Denver years ago. They'd set the clock in the bar 15 minutes fast to accommodate the 2am last call.
I love the 4am last call. Makes it so you can start your night way later if you want to and not feel rushed. 2Am is way too early when many bars start shooing you out the door at 1:30am

I was in a bar in West Hollywood once where the bouncers came around at 1:45 am and physically took your drink out of your hand.
FYI -- Bars in Savannah Ga are open until 3 am 7 days a week and open containers (to go drinks) are allowed on the streets, just like New Orleans and Las Vegas.
Here in Midland TX I think its 2 AM.New Mexico sells hard liquor in gas stations. Here in Texas its only in liquor stores.
