Not chilly. I find that winter gets old pretty quick. December is pretty but January gets old really fast.
I like to walk, and temps in the 40s and low-50s (day temps) is no fun. I'd rather walk in the heat. In the peak of summer, I just slather on sunscreen, put on my EarPods and some good podcasts, and pretend like I'm in a sauna.
I've noticed that if you compare say Memphis to Jackson, Mississippi, the summer temps are virtually the same but in winter Memphis is about 8 degrees colder. That means that when Memphis is say a brisk 49 degrees, Jackson is a balmy 57. In Jackson, the average daily high for December, January and February combined is 58 degrees. That means on about half of winter days in Jackson, it's about 60 degrees or higher. (The other half being mostly in the low to mid 50s). To me this is the perfect temperature for winter.
Neither. I'm a wimp about cold, and I don't like being sweaty. I wish I could have highs in the 60s to low 80s and low humidity year-round. And if it's sunny, give me big trees and covered windows.
Failing that, I'm ok with highs in the 50s. Seattle's generally fine minus much of Dec-Feb.
I don't really care for humidity that's too extreme but I have lived in some very humid places and honestly, I think I'd rather deal with the humidity than with cold temps, snow and ice. I don't think the question is worded that well, but this is C-D so there's that.
Not a massive fan of humidity, but I’ll take it with the heat. I lived in East Texas for 17 years and never drove with AC unless I was carting home some flowers or ice cream or something. I definitely learned how to pace myself.
Moving to a place with winter has been a punch in the face. It’s most certainly not my thing. It’s expensive to have a second wardrobe, road salt is sanctioned and taxpayer-funded vandalization of cars, and driving on snow is a harrowing experience, not to mention slip n falls and my Raynaud’s. I don’t understand how people accept it let alone like it.
Young and single: Hot and humid would be great. Always in shorts/swimwear, women in the same or less clothing. Outside all the time, no real work commitments, beer/drinks on the beach, river, lake, etc. Great! As time goes by, and married, family, career work, then warm summers, chilly winters are great. I just can't hangout and drink/smoke all day, nor do I want to. The crowd at the beach is the same age, but not me anymore. I'd be the creepy old guy.
