Which small to mid size cities (Population 25,000 to 250,000) have decent public transit systems?
By no means am I expecting service like in NYC or Chicago, but which smaller places have safe, reliable bus services that cover all important parts of the city and have good service hours?
The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) honored the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA) of Stark County (Alliance/Canton/Massillon), Ohio, with the prestigious, national "2006 Outstanding Public Transportation System Achievement Award"
Voted #1 - SARTA - Stark Area Regional Transit Authority - Canton, Ohio (http://www.sartaonline.com/voted_number_1.html - broken link)
I think any city that is close to a large city with great transportation. Two cities that I can think of are Jersey City and Hoboken, NJ. Both have the state operated NJ Transit bus lines. PATH trains that link these communities to each other and NYC, and numerous taxis and shuttle bus service.
