As some of you may know the Ohio Supreme Court ruled in 1997 that the method Ohio uses to fund its schools is unconstitutional. This was brought up again several years later and once again the OSC ruled in 2000 that the method Ohio uses to fund its schools is unconstitutional.
Of course, not a damn thing has changed and here we are almost 13 years later.
The "Property Tax" thread got me thinking... does any state in this country do things differently then we do when it comes to funding schools? I always assumed we all did it the same way: Property Taxes.
So I ask those of you in the other 49 states: How are your schools funded?
Do non-Ohioans vote for their school funding? In Pennsylvania, for example, school funding is just determined by some governing body. If they feel the schools need more funding, they just raise everyone's property taxes.
Thought this might be a good topic. Why no love for the School Funding thread? Have we had this discussion before?
