Jump off a cliff or live with the some necks in hot weather? I'll jump of the highest cliff. I'm not talking to you Northbound74 but if anyone chose to do this they have to be idiots, same with Southerners talking about moving North or West. I know some can't be serious but still.

Wow, interesting poll. I am a native of San Francisco, and I survived just fine working and living 2 years in the heart of dixie in Auburn, Alabama in the 90s. I've lived in the northeast also (north Jersey) and liked that area just fine too. The great thing about the US is that you can find places that are quite different to live in around our vast land. Compared to many other countries, that's a plus, not a minus. OK, the southeast has waffle house and lots of fried food and lots of smokers, but there's ways around that. You don't have to eat at waffle house, you don't have to eat all that fried food and there are plenty of other people who don't smoke.

Places I like in the southeast: Charleston, Tallahassee, Mobile, Pensacola. All are medium sized places, some historical center city stuff, some decent food and entertainment, and not too far from nice beaches and coastal areas. Mild winters, and yeah you need good AC in summer and might have to run away for a bit if a hurricane comes round.

Charleston because it is "pleasantly" Southern. I don't understand all of the hype with Miami. That place is a hellhole unless you are rich, and hell even if I was rich I'd never settle and raise kids there.

Well they think Wal-Mart is the best thing since sliced bread, think gays are the Anti-Christ, and voted overwhelmingly to prevent single parents from adopting because they are "unfit." What else could you ask for in an intelligent, articulate, well-educated state like Arkansas?

Check the internal in-migration figures for the South and draw your own conclusions.

There's more to the South than Arkansas. Much more.

I couldn't agree more! +1

Wow SB, you're on a roll and I can't rep you enough to keep up!

To answer the OP's question, I wouldn't "rather die," but I did fight hard to get out of the South and have no plan to return there. Does Miami Beach count as part of "Miami"? If so, I suppose I'll choose that one. Otherwise, I move that DC/Baltimore be added as an option and that a vote from lammius be recorded for that option. Thank you.

Exactly, I am from the south and would probably have a hard time in Arkansas as well...

There are other parts of the south people!
