NYC 12th safest? WTG, NY!!

Another observation, most of the safest (not NYC) are relatively new cities. Not necessarily new since they were founded, but newly "big", often due to post -WWII annexations. I don't think VA Beach was even a city until the 60s (It was a largely rural and suburban county that incorporated itself into a city.) Look at the 10 with the most violent crime rate. Their city limits have remained constant for many many decades.

I noticed the same thing too. They are basically "tweeners" in terms of being a urban center and having a suburban type of character to them at the same time.

Can you do the same for cities in the 100,000-250,000 range, 60,000-100,000 range and 40,000-60,000 range too, if possible?

There are a lot more cities in that category so it would be a pain. You can click the Wikipedia link and that page also list for those sizes

El Paso is surprising, considering its large population of illegal aliens.

I also hear Los Angelese is also experiencing a drop in crime. So much for all the hysteria surrounding illegals, and how they were going to turn these cities into crime-ridden cesspools.

I hope you are not trying to say that illegal immigration is not a huge problem in America though....

I hear that in Detroit the Hispanic along with the illegal community is the only area that is thriving and doing fine. As opposed to the rest of Detroit which is still a crime ridden, drug overdosed area.
