i live in california., where owning or even renting a home is highly expensive, and i was thining about moving to wither oklahoma or tennessee soon in my life.

I'm suprised no one has mentioned Albuquerque. One can get a 4,500 sq ft house for $80k or a two bedroom apartment for $600 a month.

Suberban cookiecutter to 60's style neighborhoods on the west side. They cost more once you cross east of the river or north to the NW heights/Rio Rancho area. Mostly the middle class west side neighborhoods.

You can get a 4500 sq ft home in a middle class (and safe?) neighborhood for $80k??? That's amazing!

Jacksonville is definitely one of the cheapest big cities for housing (land and construction costs) and here to build that size house at cost would probably be around 300k.
