I have been many places all over the South. Richmond is much more like the OLD SOUTH.

Oxford has it all over Richmond.

I'm still not quite convinced. Richmond is closer to DC, Philly, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and New York (all very Northern cities) than it is to Atlanta, Vicksburg, Montgomery, New Orleans, and Savannah -- all quintessentially Southern cities.

the vine that ate the south. There is a gentleman that has a herd of goats for hire that travels throughout the south..... the goats apparently love kudzu, wish I could remember where I read it.

Those cities are in the Deep South

Richmond is 75 mi from NC. Richmond is 100 miles from DC.

DC is BELOW the Mason Dixon line.

IM TALKING CULTURALLY here. Geographically, Richmond is an Upper South city. Its not in the Deep South.

Richmond is closer to Savannah, GA than it is to Atlanta. SAVANNAH IS SOUTH OF ATLANTA!!!!!!

Yes, I do agree Oxford is more Southern than Richmond. But this clown is trying to say Richmond is a Northern city. I'm sorry but that is BLASPHEMY!

Methinks that perhaps his lack of manners belies a non-Southern heritage?

I'm just stating my OPINION just like you are stating your OPINION.

Aesthetically, Richmond's density, location along a river and I-95, close proximity to New York, location along the rain/snow line and industrial grittiness give it a rather Northern flavor than true Southern cities like Savannah, Atlanta, Charleston and New Orleans.
