I remember how NYC's borders are stretched because of Garbage, Hence it's a garbage city. It's nothing to brag about.
Their drinking water source, I believe, is way up in the Catskill Mountains. Don't confue the East River with drinking water.

It's not about that at all. Have you even listened to the lyrics?

New York City has some of the best tap water in the country. Pure, fresh, naturally filtered mountain water that travels from the Catskills to the city in a Roman-style aqueduct. People who buy bottled water in NYC are idiotic ;-)

My Dad, who was born in 1919, used to say, "You can take the boy out of NY, but you will never take NY out of the boy". That is what is really meant by a NY State of Mind.

From my experiences, a NY state of mind is being very arrogant, cocky, in your face, rude, loud, obnoxious, and pushy. One New Yorker once told me that, beyond the Hudson River, nothing matters.....and if you're not from NY, you don't matter.

Bingo!

Slight adjustment though - nothing matters beyond the Hudson except for LAX and South Florida!
