Maybe there should be a thread asking if Kentucky should be allowed to have territory that borders the Atlantic Ocean so it can be a Mid-Atlantic state.

Life is not always fair. But don't worry! Many states including Virginia are in more than one region. Did you ever think that Virginia might be a Mid-Atlantic state, a Southeastern state, Upper South, Appalachia, Delmarva state?

I disagree. I have been out there too. Virginia is just as Southern as Kentucky ,if not more. Also KY wasnt even in the Confederacy. Why they get to be South and we dont is beyond me.

If Guatemala AND Belize are considered to be part of "Central America", why aren't Kansas and Nebraska?

There are different classifications...why do you care SO much if someone calls your state northern or southern? Are you so insecure you need constant re-assurance of its/your southerness? Gee whizz, lol.

pssst, let me let you in on a secret...

Virginia isn't really that Southern. It's the mid-Atlantic and bordering more and more on pure Northern as population in the Boston to Washington megalopolis spreads farther and farther south the I-95 corridor.

Virginia has never been THAT Southern in the modern sense of being 'southern'. Nor has it really been Northern. To me it's just been a really American state.

It depends on what your definition of 'Southern' is

By and large we pass the general litmus test

We have southern cuisine (that isnt a gimmick), sweet tea, southern accents, Confederate heritage, etc
