Ha! This coming from someone who lives in Texas of all places. With the exception of Austin, I'd take every city on that list over what Texas has to offer.

What makes Austin different?

Oh whatever, spare me the holier-than-thou attitude.

Or do you live in one of the miserable cities on the list, and it hit a nerve?

With the exception of Austin? Whatever, shows how little you know.

Nothing. Aside from it getting better press and marketing itself well (but go check out the Austin forum sometime, you'll see a lot of people moved there and were disappointed)

Is this really going to turn into another "Bash Texas" thread?

The list doesn't make much sense to me personally. I know I would be happy in Portland with just the scenery. I think all of these kinds of lists use specially selected criteria to fulfill the writers' prejudices. They only promote stereotypes.

I currently live in Minneapolis and yes, I'd take this "miserable" city over any city in Texas. I know plenty about it as I've visited (on numerous occasions) several cities throughout the state including Houston, Dallas, Laredo, Lubbock, Carrizo Springs, McAllen Austin, San Antonio, and others. I find these places to be far more miserable than most of the cities on that list. Sorry cowgirl/boy, but that's how it is.

If you don't agree with Austin being the best city in Texas, that's fine. I'm not going to try to change your mind.

THANK YOU

But let him go ahead and tell people that. Maybe it'll stop people from moving here in droves...

Um, okay. Because Laredo, Lubbock, Carrizo Springs (WTH is that?), and McAllen are so awesome.
And Austin is completely overrated, I've lived there, but whatever.

Miserable to you, not to the vast majority of the people that live there. Besides, was it really neccesary to throw out a way over the top bashing of a state just because you don't agree with the list?

People talk about inferiority complexes on here, well here is another example from Minneapolis
