If you are talking about the green tip on the Jersey shore - that is Sandy Hook. The New Jersey part of the Gateway National Recreational Area.

You can actually see the Atlantic Highlands from different beaches on western Long Island. Here is a little fun fact for you Lammius. Monmouth County, NJ actually borders TWO New York counties by water. Staten Island (Richmond) and Queens!

It amazes me, whether I'm on the Monmouth County shore or the beaches in Brooklyn or Queens, how close the other side is (as the crow flies). It's only a few miles from Atlantic Highlands to Coney Island or Rockaway Beach, yet psychologically and in terms of on-land travel time, they are worlds apart!

Interesting! I wonder if/how things changed psychologically when Staten Island was linked to Bayonne by the Veranzano Bridge?

Much of that map is incorrect. It shows cities having higher population densities than they really do. It shows many cities that are bright red, meaning above 5,000 people per square mile, when in fact they are well below 5,000 per square mile. This includes Dallas, Phoenix, Houston, and Tampa.

Other than that it is pretty cool.

well true, in some places it's misrepresented, like the adirondack and catskill regions of new york where it should be 0 people per sq.mi
because most of it is uninhabited.

In my opinion any region that has less than 150 people per sq.mi is pretty sparse.
