Frankly, i was reluctant to include florida as part of the south. It was part of the 11 states of the Confederacy so it won over Maryland. But only the northern part of Florida is southern.

Funny, it sounds like you wouldn't like any southern states.

That's like me replying to a thread like "Where's your favorite ice-hotel?"

That's a hard one. I'm a born and raised Southerner and I've never really sat down and thought about which Southern state is my favorite (my favorite state altogether though is Arizona because it's just a flat out beautiful state...a little needless trivia there). I've only been to a few of them. I'd have to say North Carolina...you got mountains, you got beaches, you got Charlotte for city life, you got Raleigh for urban life, you got UNC...so that's where my vote goes

I would say Georgia. Im a sucker for the red clay dirt, the mountains in the north and north central areas. Ivy like vines everywhere. Some ferns and hills that give it a unique feel. Nice bigger houses with big porches. Generall laid back lifestyle. But mainly the red dirt and look and feel of it. It doesnt feel like a resort place, it feels like it could be home. Some of the roads are an orange color also. It just has a unique homey feel to it. Except Atlanta is way to big. To much stuff I dont value come with cities over a certain size. Back in the day I would have lived there in a minute.

I love NC. Great weather, great economy, wonderful people, the mountains/Blue Ridge Pkwy., Outer Banks.

Other southern states I enjoy;

SC - Beautiful upstate area, Charleston and its history/beauty.

TN - beautiful mountain areas, great people.

VA - See TN

FL - We love Orlando theme parks.
