You've done or had friends that did graffiti when you were a teen.

Riding your bike in the rain is prefered to rush hour traffic.

Suburbia is the next best thing to hell.

You can't live without the newspaper.

Your surprised when you see a Caucasian or African American driving a taxi.

You don't find the above statement racist, just simple fact.

Yeah black but not necessarily American-born black. In fact, most cabbies here are African immigrants.

  • The evening news becomes your number 1 source of entertainment
  • Sirens no longer gain your attention - in fact, you find it odd when you go through a day without hearing one
  • You have your own personal library of bus/train schedules
  • Suburban ZIP codes appear foreign to you

  • It's the middle of the night, and you've just grabbed a bite to eat after a trip to the grocery store
  • Two-lane highways make you nervous
  • After a long trip away, you're so glad to be back "in civilization"
  • You've come to find some industrial odors oddly appealing

Not all of that is true. Where I spent my growing up on Long Island, there are certain towns that had lots of graffiti, it's very dense so you hear sirens often...and the area is considered to be suburban, though many people think it's urban.
