I posted a mini photo tour of Crystal Cove State Park, just north of Laguna Beach CA when I went for a run there this morning. I use a simple "PHD" (push here dummy) camera, Nikon Coolpix L6 that I got at a giveaway clearance sale a few months ago. Good for toting around on hikes, runs, bike rides. Most of the time I leave it on "auto" setting when I am on the go.

Also posted a photo tour of my next door park where I go trail running:

I'd like to do a city photo tour of Laguna Beach or Long Beach, CA. Those would be the two best local candidates for a combo of architecture and scenery.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Nice photos, recycled! I notice you really reduced the lot on the health forum. I liked the size.

Well, okay, my yard is actually in the foreground. The land barons next door own those trees, but you get the idea, and it actually works. You have no idea how long it took me trying to figure it out. This way is really simple.

Smile Democracy, Anyone?

One idea I had in mind would for the moderators to post a "sticky" poll at the top of every state forum message board in which people could vote on what area of the state they'd like to see photographed. I've utilized polls while doing my most recent photo tours of Milford, PA and Clarks Summit, PA, and I truly think people do appreciate seeing that their votes really matter. Periodically, a person living in or around the top-voted region/city would submit a new photo tour. I know much of the photographic interest on the PA forum has been rather "Scranton-centric" due to our upward growth trajectories, but I know there are other members on that state forum in particular who'd love to volunteer to photograph their own hometowns if prompted (RainRock could photograph some areas of Philly and/or the Main Line area, MemoriesBre wants to help me photograph some smaller country towns in the Scranton area, DeLorean expressed interest in photographing the Nanticoke area, Dawne might be prompted to post some photos of Selinsgrove, Openless might be able to post a few of Harrisburg, etc.)

I'm sure every state forum has members who are equally as enthusiastic about showing others how much civic pride they have in where they hail from. Even instead of a poll, a permanent "sticky" thread at the top of each state forum about "Photo Tour Suggestions" might work. Out of 70,000+ people on this forum, only a small handful of us regularly do photo tours; could you imagine how amazing it would be if we all took a few minutes to send images of our own hometowns into cyberspace? City-Data would be like a walking index of community photos! How awesome would that be?!
