well, Boston seems like it should be the obvious answer but maybe that's just cuz i'm from there.
Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern, Suffolk, Wentworth, Simmons, Mass Art, UMass Boston, a good amount more. Plus Harvard and MIT just across the river.
I'm sure that most capitals have some college in them. But not all big ones.
Providence has Providence College, Brown, RISD
Richmond has a few I am pretty sure
Sacramento, SLC, PHX, I mean they all must have soooome decent sized school although I am not sure of specific ones without looking it up.
I know there are a lot of schools near Albany. In Troy, Schenacady (sp?). Union, Skidmore, RPI all in the area.
Hartford has some smaller schools
Ahhh I'm sure we will get answers for basically every capital

I guess it depends on what you consider big, but . . . I can start with "the world's biggest college town," Boston (BU, Northeastern each have over 20k students). Then there's Raleigh (NC State), Columbia (U. of SC), Tallahassee (FSU), Baton Rouge (LSU), Madison (U. of Wisc.), St. Paul (U. of Minn. flagship campus is in both Mnnpls. and St. Paul), Lincoln (U. of Nebraska), and SLC (U. of Utah). Then, besides any I may be overlooking, you get into the question of how large a university has to be to be considered large, and the question of whether to include cities in the capital city's metro area (East Lansing and Tempe, for example).
