Something tells me you don't know much about the rural Midwest.

My best friends grandfather was from Sweden, they immigrated to North Dakota and Western Minnesota. My friend now lives in central Kansas. Lindsborg (little Sweden) is also in central Kansas, it's 36% Swedish.

They also host the bicentennial Svensk Hyllningsfest. You can throw up after eat in some lutfisk.

The Swedes were the first European settlers in the Philadelphia area (1638). The Swedes introduced the log cabin to America and for a period of time the entire lower Delaware Valley was called "New Sweden". The King and Queen of Sweden visited Philadelphia and Wilmington, DE last year to celebrate the 375th anniversary of Swedish colonial settlement in America.

Although there were only about 600 Swedish settlers in the original colony, Swedish influence is still quite visible in the region:

--the oldest Swedish/American Museum in the U.S. is located in Philly as is the 2nd oldest Swedish Church (Gloria Dei-1698)
--the oldest Swedish Church in the U.S. is Old Trinity located in Wilmington
--The Christina River in Wilmington is named for the Swedish queen
--there is a Swedesboro , NJ just across the Delaware River
--The Printzhof, home of Johan Printz, governor of New Sweden is located in Essington, PA & is a National Historic Landmark
--there are two 24-ft.-high statues of Swedish settlers atop the skyscraper Philadelphia City Hall
--the Delaware state flag, as well as the Philadelphia city flag are yellow and blue, the colors of the Swedish flag

A lot of the Pacific Northwest is semi arid.

Then it's not "Pacific", it's just the Northwest.

That was funnier than a fart in a bathtub.

Am I the only one that senses the OP is another swarthy Italian-American (or some other swarthy ethnic) who is on the hunt for blonde women? His location is New Jersey.

lol Sorry, I had to.

I'm in a semi-arid part of Washington and there is a higher than average % of people with Swedish ancestry. One of the nearby towns, Selah Washington was pretty much founded by Swedish immigrants. Through the 1940s it was common to hear Swedish spoken there.

Today this entire area of Central WA is heavily Hispanic. Mexican is by far the #1 ancestry. But of the Anglo population, many have Swedish ancestry.

Most of the fattest states are in the South and have high African-American populations. Mississippi is consistently the fattest state according to the CDCs BRFSS survey and also happens to rank #1 in % of blacks.

The #1 Swedish state Minnesota is consistently the least obese Midwestern state.
