how can i argue with facts however.
the difference between a strong armed robbery and aggressive panhandling is getting very thin.

How are Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Berkeley mean to the homeless? I have never seen a more sympathetic crowd to the homeless than the residents of the Bay Area. Many homeless live on the BART because they know that people will leave them alone. Last time I checked, BART went through Berkeley.

Atlanta is littered with homeless people around the Five Points MARTA station. They panhandle aggressively on a daily basis.

Los Angeles has a permanent homeless "tent city" downtown. How is that unfriendly toward the homeless?

Mean to the homeless? SF and Berkeley? Agreeing with previous poster -- what are they smoking?

SF and Berkeley are confusing me too. I can't take this list seriously if those 2 cities are in the top ten.

Maybe those towns have a side you don't see. Or maybe you're not a homeless person or one who works with the homeless. They might have a different perspective on what cities mean/nice to the homeless.

I remember a CNN special on one of the best homeless shelters in SF and it was for dogs, but they were nice enough to let the homeless people be there to serve the dogs.

I've known many people throughout the years who have been homeless in Berkeley, and all of them talked about what a great place it was, people were constantly handing them free food and joints. Maybe they're confusing it with Oakland.

If you wanted to compare how cities handle it, then this should have gone in the city vs city room (though it's been discussed there before). However, the thread is presented as more of a politically-themed topic as opposed to a comparison, so it's not appropriate for this room. Sorry.
