I would rather be in a NYC winter. NYC is usually 5-15 degrees warmer than Chicago in the winter and on average has 53 fewer days with the minnimum temp below freezing (Chicago 131; NYC 78) I also really hate hot humid weather.
Hot & Humid weather with avg. high temperatures of upper 80s and low-mid 90s and lows of mid-upper 70s (Heat index often exceed 100s).
Most days brings afternoon or early evening thunderstorms but are usually short-lived that doesn't last for long. Still plenty of sunshine.
New York City's winter:
Cold weather with avg. high temperatures of upper 30s and low 40s and lows of upper 20s and low 30s. However, temperatures could for few days be as high as 50s and 60s, or be as low as 10s and 20s, or windchill near 0 (rare).
Both rain, snow & sleet could occur as precipitation. Snowfall of ~ 24 inches/year, but usually does not last for long. Despite winter time, most days are bright & sunshine.
I lived in Florida long enough to realize that the colder climates are actually preferably to stifling heat/humidity.
