LA= chill
New York= bustling
Miami= hot! (talkin bout more than weather)

That's interesting. When I think of Atlanta I think of a lot of things. Serene is not one of them. But you know even in Midtown which is so busy and hustle bustle there's a few quiet tree lined streets so I guess serenity can be found anywhere even in the big city.

The green space and abundance of trees and Atlanta's warmth, space, and slower pace compared to other big cities is very calming.
Also, serenity is subjective based on what you're used to. A family friend from NYC always comes down here to unwind, and NYC friends who laud Atlanta say they like it spefically b/c it's the opposite of New York, according to them. A Columbus, GA native, however, may have a different opinion :-).

Can't argue with that. Even though I live in the DC area now, Atlanta is still this unbelievably huge city in my eyes. Then you add all those tall buildings which neither Columbus or DC have and I just see the big city. So being from Columbus definitely influences my opinion.
I visited New York for my birthday in June and I felt so overwhelmed at times. There are so many people just on the sidewalk. I felt so crowded and claustrophobic. At the same time there are quiet parts of New York too that I could handle but the parts where the sidewalks are overflowing with people would be too much on a daily basis. That's what I loved about Roosevelt Island quiet but close to the city. I could see myself living there.
