I miss the mountains from back home (New England). I always felt at peace when I was in the Green Mountains. However, the winters are bitter and long. Recently, I was thinking about Colorado, but was sad to discover that there are very little trees and greenery in CO (I love greenery, what can I say). I hear the Blue Ridge mountains are nice. A bit more mild in the winter, lots of trees and lakes and streams.

What's your favorite mountainous area? Not trying to do a "best" thread; very subjective. Just curious and thinking I might get some ideas from other people.

The very short time I spent in Glenwood Springs, CO made an impression on me. I really liked that town. Can't say why really, just something about it made it feel comfortable and nice to me. People were friendly that I met, the location is awesome, and it has to be my favorite town in the mountains. There are LOTS of places that were very nice that I have been to, but Glenwood Spring tops my personal favorite list.

North Conway NH in the White Mountains.

I would love to see more of the Pacific Northwest mountain towns and cities though. The Cascades region is beautiful!

Wasn't Wallace, Idaho the town where they filmed the movie Dante's Peak? If so, that's nice looking town.
