I was actually considering to come out and look at either Norfolk or VA Beach sometime to consider a future move when I want to settle down. Seems like a nice place for a family, but it might be more trouble than its worth. I'd be commuting 3 1/2 hours to work into DC. Of course being a DC fireman I work once every four days and would be making the commute outside of rush hour since I start at 7am and arrive at about 430/5am. Then I'm off at 7am the next morning. Either way, I definitely want to check it out since I'm not that far.

Also, I was interested in the area before, but your row home pictures kind of put me over the top. I love row homes and the ones in your pictures are beautiful.

If all goes well there should be a train from downtown Norfolk to Dc via Richmond. Then you could take light rail to amtrak to get to DC

Norfolk isn't bad. I can think of way worse cities in the US. Regardless, I don't think Norfolk is too bad. Definitely not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
