Another very misleading statistic. To compare the entire city of Atlanta with the suburb of Sandy Springs is meaningless. Try comparing Sandy Springs with the Atlanta zip codes 30305, 30327 and 30342 and you'll get a more accurate picture of comparables.

It took until reply #15, but I finally got some suggestions. Thank you. I don't understand why soemone would waste their time posting just to say "I'm not going to help you"?

Virginia Beach, Lynchburg, Cary, and Athens, are all good suggestions, and I will check them out more.

Whether homes cost more in the suburban areas was never really the issue here. I simply do not want to live outside of the actual city. I do not make a lot of money, and could not afford a $200,000+ home, no matter how much more house you get for the $.

I never meant for this to become a competition and a "prove it" or "top that" conversation. This is not about North vs South. I was just pointing out that I had more luck finding places further north than I was further south. I was just looking for insight, becuase as has been stated many times, the numbers on city-data do not tell the whole story. That is all I really have to go by though. I thought maybe someone who has actually lived in the South might have an idea from experience. There is no need to get defensive, and I am sorry if I offended someone out there.

Some posts after the previous post were deleted. The majority of the posts that remain don't address the topic in the original post, either. The post by the OP seems like a good place to end what turned out to be a contentious, unhelpful thread. Since the discussion is not at all in the spirit of City-Data's motto: "We are here to help each other," the thread is now closed.
Please register to post and access all features of our very popular forum. It is free and quick. Over $68,000 in prizes has already been given out to active posters on our forum. Additional giveaways are planned.
