It seems that Texas overall has quite a strong economy. Also parts of NY and CT. No CA? Big surprise there.

Wow! 9 out of the top 10 where in the South Central United States. Go South Central! My city, Houston, was ranked #9 and my old city, Austin, was ranked #2.
While some TX cities have fared fairly well during this great recession the unemployment rate in that state has now edged above 8%. Economic growth over the past year has turned negative in every state except for ND.
