How do you respond to a gang member that ask you where you from? Meaning what hood, gang or set you from?
I ask because I was wondering how people who live in known gang cities like Chicago or L.A deal with gang members when you run into them. I hear some gang members will harm you if you give them the wrong answer to their question. Do you just avoid known gang areas?
Are you black or latino? Than your situation complicates as you might be aproached accordingly.Crips were crippled badly just few days ago by a fed raids all over US.
They flag you or check you
You say you don't gang bang, you're a nuetron
Then you proceed to put down one of their enemy gangs to prove you aren't one.
And you walk off.
If you don't, then they chase you down and beat you.
If you're some preppy lame, or a dude with a suit and tie, child, parent, etc. you won't be checked duh
I live in California so that would be a yes to dealing with gang members all the time. You just have to be smart about what areas you wonder in to. For the most part they leave people alone but if you look like you gang bang and you are not from the area they will ask you where you are from.

Being white helps, at least in the part of town where I live. Up here the gangs are more interested in harassing each other than harassing random passers-by, so if you're white and don't try to look "urban-tough" they assume you're not in a gang and they mostly leave you alone. I don't think that would be the case if I lived in a part of town with mostly black gangs; they tend to be a little more inclusive in who they'll harass. So I don't spend much quality time in those neighborhoods.
I live in California and the answer is no, not really.
