Yea, we got our wires crossed too, I thought they were talking about snowfall so far this cold season (late October to March/winter 2009/2010).

But yea, snowfall in NYC is pretty rare in the fall. I think the OP realizes with all that was discussed that snow/cold/freezing temps...etc is really a 90 day deal in NYC most often.

I think he/she will do fine however if they choose NYC, although I might want to live just outside the city on the Island or maybe SW Connecticut.

1/19 2.2"
1/28 3"
2/4 4.3"
3/1 8"

That to me looks like over an inch multiple times and there are still 2 months left in the year. The outer boroughs, where over 80% of the people in NYC live generally get more.

You also must not have read what the OP posted though since he did not ask if it was "worth the weather change". He asked if it was "worth the bad weather" because he "dislike cold weather, ice, snowstorms, overcast days etc.".

Once again let me reiterate, to you an inch or 2 of snow and 30 degrees may not be a big deal and may be considered a mild winter. To someone that dislikes cold, snow and ice it very well may be a huge deal.
That's only true for The Bronx, I actually saw a map somewhere online and Queens, Staten Island, and Brooklyn get 5 to 10 inches less than Manhattan and The Bronx on average. I think its due to them being right on the Atlantic.

I was off on the average snowfall in Central Park, it is around 24.
The Bronx gets 26 on average, Queens 22, Staten Island 26, Brooklyn 23

Of course this is from one site, other sites give varying amounts but they are close. It also depends on what part of the county you are in.

It also doesn't matter if someone has spent one weekend or 20 years in NYC; the snow cover is minimal, the windchill negligible, the overall winter experience is mild.

The original poster wanted to know if NYC was " worth the weather change", and I'm trying to emphasize that it's not the extreme change that he/she thinks it is. If someone from Florida is planning a move to Minnesota, then weather is an important consideration; but going from Florida to NYC, the weather implications are minimal.
What do you expect from someone trying to hawk FL RE. Of course they will exaggerate the winter weather in NYC.

Please explain to me how statistics are exagerrated?

Are the snowfall levels vastly different from what i posted?

Did I ever mention about moving to Florida?

You just sound like someone who has no response to a logical post so you chose a different angle, attack the poster.

I am curious why you chose to question my posts but did not question the poster that claims it only snows 1 or 2 times a year in NYC or the post that claimed there has been no snowfall this year.

Did you not deem those posts to be exaggerations?

NYC only has a few significant snowfalls every winter; one-inch dustings are negligible, and hardly worth mentioning..

NYC has not had any snowfall this year...which means from Oct 2009-April 2010. It will also, in all probability, have a "green" Chistmas.

If NYC averages 22in/year, and it has one 8-inch storm and one 5-inch storm , then there really isn't much left for the rest of the winter, is there? Unless, of course, you're just exaggerating a little, for effect..

No...... because even if there was no significant cold weather there there still would be the cramped lifestyle and high taxes I could never live with.
