Thats what I meant by "generally". I didn't mean all Aussies looked like Brits with a Tan. I know there's diversity in Australia. I'm just going off the tourists I've seen in So Cal and on Aussie Videos on Youtube.
Yeah. Though I bet the type of Australian who is attracted to southern California is more likely to be a certain type. Most of my Australian friends (who are not at all representative) are not particularly tan and have no interest in California (or even the United States at all).
I think the main difference is that americans are more overweight, and well there are more sicilian and jewish ancestry in americans aswell as minor hispanic or african, specially in the south of the country, you can see it in jhonny cash, steve ray vaighn, hillary clinson, elvis preasley, lee van cleef who in american eyes are normal white men but they tend to look exotic for europeans.
Yes and why wouldn't we? The US is diverse, even amongst white people. The only way we'd look identical to Brits is if we were 90%+ British ancestry, and we're not. Many Americans don't even have a single British ancestor. Lots are German, Italian, Irish, Polish etc. so why would we look like Brits when many of us aren't descended from them? Just because we speak a language doesn't mean we're of the same ethnicity as where that language originated. America certainly looked more British in colonial times, I bet.
Would you ask if Mexicans look like Spaniards? Most don't, because very few of them are of sole Spanish ancestry. Venezuelans and Cubans are more likely to look like a Spaniard than Mexicans or Guatemalans. The US and Australia are the same way. Australia has a higher concentration of British descendents. Hell, their accent's more similar to theirs by a long shot.

Most of white americans are descended from brits or the Irish, except those who are recent arrivals. The scotch-Irish and English ancestry are largely undereported in the census, because most americans dont know their fully family tree. I have known a quite few cases of americans who assumed to be from a different ancestry, then they did a research of their ancestry (including dna) and Discovered they are mostly English and Scotch-Irish rather than anything else from europe.
I agree, I think most white Americans are British descended but have become mixed with other Euro and even non-Euro groups. I can't for one minute believe there has been a mass Anglicising of non-Anglo names. Someone like Senator Mitch McConnell and House of Representative Matt Cartwright are people who I'd say still look very British.
Why dont you better answer with your saxonwAld account? dont forget the jewish ancestry in many white amricans, so they might have british lastname but have jewish ancestors aswell... 10% of nyc is jewish..and so are so many celebrities, same for sicilian and even hispanic or african american ancestries in white americans.
I'm in Germany right now and the white people here would 100% blend in with white Americans in terms of physical appearance.
