I guess I don't view the South as progressive...at least not politically. We can always count on that region of the country to vote the way the klan does, for the Conservative agenda. This despite so much black presence.
What a silly comment. I'm sure many Klan members vote Republican (those who vote for one of the major parties), just as I'm sure many socialists, eco-terrorists, and Marxists voted for Obama (those who vote for one of the major parties). It does not render the Republican Party to be a white supremacist party or the Democratic Party to be a Communist party. Ultimately, they are both fairly moderate, centre-right and centre-left, and I'm sure people of many political ideologies from Fascism to libertarianism vote for one of the main parties, but that does not align the party with their views.

I know! Like any of us are pure of race...we're all mixed already, whether some people like it or not.

I remember reading an article in 2008 where several White Supremacists endorsed Obama. Although when you got past the headline it made a bit more sense than I expected.

One group of white supremacists were supporting Obama in a transparently calculating and opportunistic way. Basically their thinking was that if we have a Black President then any dissatisfaction with him (and there will always be dissatisfaction with any President) could be spun in a racial way that might radicalize more racist white people and thereby help them gain recruits. Whereas anger at McCain would not have served that purpose.

The other group was more about segregation and Anti-Semitism than hostility to blacks in the usual sense. A few of them had hopes that Obama was secretly a black-nationalist and as such would support bringing back some segregation or at least maintaining what segregation remains. (Some black nationalists did support segregation. Marcus Garvey and Zora Neale Hurston for example. Not that there was any real evidence Obama was a black-nationalist) Also some were Nazi enough in influence that what they really hated was "The Jews" and Israel. They believed McCain's friendship with Lieberman made him too "Pro-Jew" and that he was too much of a Neoconservative, which in racist anti-Bush circles "Neoconservative" is sometimes code for "The Jews and their servants." They also held a belief or hope that Obama really had ties with Anti-Semites. I imagine that group has been, thankfully, disappointed in some of his actions since election.

His facial structure is the dead give away. Also his hair texture.

How you could look at him and say he looks fully white is beyond me.

Yeah; its pretty noticeable that that kid isn't fully white. Hair and skin complexion is what gave it away to me.

His features is what gave it away to me. His complexion was a close second.

In response to the earlier posts in this thread. I don't know about rural areas but I promise you that the largest southern cities (Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Memphis, Charlotte, Austin) are less racist and segregatedthan the big northern cities (New York, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Cincy, Cleveland).I've said this time and time again. My dad moved to brooklyn from barbados when he was 8 and stayed there until he graduated high school and joined the air force. He says he saw more racism in nyc than he ever saw in Texas.

Really? I thought those cities were segregation and and the locals had a problem with interracial relationships, from what I've seen in the movies and the fools I've encountered on YouTube.

I'm not sure if you're serious or sarcastically parodying the views of most non-southerners. Movies? Seriously?
