Here is a study done by govpro.com ranking the 236 most liberal cities and conservative cities respectively...generally the entire metro area tends to overall lean in the same direction as the city. I can already say for certain that St. Louis should not even have any votes at this point. It placed 20th most liberal city in the United States, and its metro area for an absolute fact is much more blue than red. Geography or the region a city is in really has nothing to do with how liberal or conservative it is as shown by these lists.
Just as many Midwestern cities appear to lean to the right as to the left. The Twin Cities, Chicago, St. Louis, Cleveland, Akron, Milwaukee and Dayton all lean towards the right. Indianapolis is VERY conservative for a Midwestern city, it ranked something like 155 for most liberal cities. KC, Cincinnati, and Columbus all appear to lean slightly more towards the right than the left but they are far from being the most conservative cities. Memphis and Atlanta for Southern cities are quite liberal. Politics has nothing to do with regions apparantly when it comes to cities.

Why on earth do people think St. Louis is a republican city...it kinda just said on the list I gave that St. Louis was the 20th most liberal in the country. St. Louis City and St. Louis County, the core of St. Louis are both more liberal than republican. As evidenced in the elections of state governors and of the previous two Presidential elections. St. Louis is as blue as Chicago folks, there is no two ways of going about it. STL and Chi-town are almost identical with political views. Atlanta being conservative? No way on earth. It was listed as 31st most liberal. Cincy and Kansas City were between numbers 50 and 60. Indianapolis I'd say is one of the most conservative. I think there are far more conservative cities than any other city on this list except may Oklahoma City, Nashville, Louisville, Dallas, and Houston.
this poll is/was a joke. NYC? philly? minneapolis? seattle? atlanta? yeah right. atlanta isn't conservative at all, it's easily one of the most liberal cities in the whole country. just because it's in georgia doesn't matter.

Yes, right you are. Very rarely is a city's political attitude defined by that of its state. Look at Memphis! It is in Tennessee, squarely in the South, yet it is 38th most liberal in the country. Birmingham, Alabama is in the top 20 most liberal, and it is in the Deep South. It really is random which cities are conservative and which aren't. Political attitudes are about the worst way to try and prove which region a city belongs in. If being liberal means being Northern, then Birmingham is as Northern as Cleveland or Detroit
My picks were most of the southern cities and cities in the central plains. I must mention that San Diego's metro area is very conservative. For one thing, it is a strong military area, and a lot of military members and their families have strong evangelical, conservative, and traditional values, as well as patriotic. Another thing is that it is a wealthy area, so it is also fiscally conservative. Orange County is another VERY conservative area in SoCal, but without the military influx.
Dallas. There are churches non-stop and most here are Republican.
