Believe me,ArizonaBear,if you have been to Donora or Monessen, there is very litte good about the area. (Not slamming the people, but the towns are dumpy!!!)
1.) Dead end town
2.) Not a happening dating scene for mid 20 something singles
3.) Gray, cold and dreary weather-- I remember when it rained for 3 WEEKS staight and the susquehanna overflowed and flooded 2 feet inside the hospital I worked at!
4.) Not much for outdoor enthusiasts
Positives: It was close to the finger lakes and Ithaca!
1] High Cost Of Living. [try 1,000$ + per sq. foot on for size...]
2] The pinnacle and center of social degeneration in the U.S. possibly the World. [best evidence of this seen at zombietime.com]
3] Traffic. [it's bad]
4] Homeless. [ie. pure un-adulterated crazeeez]
5] Gang-stah "culture" put on by true gangstaaahs.
6] Gang-stah "culture" put on by true yuppieeeez.
7] Trash blowing in the streets....everywhere.
8] Communist/Socialist politics and politicians....
9] Ultra-rich liberal hypocrites.
10] Lousy ultra-aggressive drivers....
It's not the worst, but it's a close second to my all time favorite, Cedar Rapids, IA. Too many similarities between the two places, including:
1. Rude and overtly biased behavior.
2. Taxes on everything, including the taxes that you're already paying!
3. Closed-minded attitudes.
4. Way too many passive-aggressive and sarcastic personality types. Don't buy into the "Minnesota Nice" concept.
In all fairness, (that's a word you may not hear in this town), here are some really good points about the Twin Cities that keeps it from being the worst:
1. Plenty of job opportunities (they may suck, but at least you'll be working)
2. Lot's of things to do for the kids. I mean LOTS of cool things.
3. Every once in a while, you'll find people who moved here from other cities, and when you hear them complain about the city, you get confirmation that what you're experiencing isn't normal.
Well, there's a lot more reasons, but I'll leave you with that to ponder on.
It is nothin but a ghetto of a place. East of Binghamton, (historic place, but needs some work) Endicott is a slum with bad taste. People there are ok, but I would have to say for a place in New York, this place is not a place in New York you'd want to be in.
Factories there make that area look like a polluted nightmare, and I can't stand it when we go down towards there. All in all I give it a 3 or so.
Nope, I just came across your posts- very good question. You are all wrong!! It is San Antonio, Texas1 I think we beat the amout of illegals coming in- something like 1,200 a day to Texas. If you're not Mexican, then you are target for most of the crime! Crime, dirty, drunks and beggers all over! Heat and humidity are awful! But cost of living/houses are reasonable- because nobody in their right mind wants to have to be there! I can't wait to sell my winter place there!!!
What part of the S.A. are your describing? San Antonio's downtown is very clean and for the most part relatively safe. The only inner sections i would stay away from would be the inner west side which is mostly mexican.I'm hispanic but I wouldn't walk these sections at night. The east side is rough as well, Martin Luther King Blvd area is San Antonio's african American community. Then there is Olmos park,Alamo Heights,Terrel hills which are independent cities right outside the downtown which are affluent, homes priced in the millions. These affluent bedroom cities are racially diverse. The rest of San Antonio is typical modern, clean, green suburbs.
The comment about not anybody wanting to live in S.A. is hilarious.San Antonio is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. Just in the far west San Antonio area alone, near Sea World , I read there is 700 new housing developments planned or under construction. They project 300,000 new residents in this section of town within the next 10-15 years.San Antonio is growing downtown and in every direction.
The humidity is kinda bad at times so can't deny that.

Hate to say it, but Los Angeles is pretty crummy/crappy.
