What is the maximum amount of time a Canadian can spend in the United States on a visit? I think for an American coming to Canada it's 6 months but I'm not sure on that..

Obviously I wouldn't be able to work in America, so how difficult is it to obtain a green card without any University Degrees?

Thanks.

Googling for "maximum time Canadian visitor allowed in US" came up with 6 months. For more info try ins.gov or this link -internationaloffice.duke.edu/int_visa_class.html

I believe it is also 6 months for Canadians.

Possibility for a green card is almost nil unless you use alternate methods which are also becoming increasingly difficult. Example - marrying a US citizen or finding a sponsor.

Do you have any skills not commonly found among the US workforce?

Unfortunately no I don't have any special skills. They sure make it hard for someone who actually wants to work and pay taxes to come to the country.

And that 6 months, is that like 6 months out of every year or how often can you spend that time in the U.S?

I know people who come here for 6 months, leave for a few weeks and return for another 6 months.

That's awesome, I didn't think that you would be able to do that.

One other thing, do you need a green card to rent an apartment? Just wondering how the snowbirds do it.
