Mayport or NAS doesn't have anything on Norfolk's naval base not even close.Jacksonville has made many improvements in this city such as Springfield and west of Broad Street in downtown, but this city is so spread out as Jacksonville\Duval County is 2\3 the size of the State of Rhode Island.

I think we are better than Jacksonville. Only thing you have, that I want, is the NFL team.

Jacksonville is not your typical big Florida City,it is not desirable comparison wise as it is a blue-collar industrial city, it has beautiful areas and the greatest asset would be the beautiful St.Johns River,but this town is not a resort touristry area and never will be one there is too much competitveness within the state. It will continue to grow as it is one of the more affordable big cities in Florida,but it has too much of a South Georgia mindset.
By the way you can have the Jaguars as they are terrible in My opinion.
I think Jacksonville does a great job of benchmarking other cities and bringing visibility to ways it can take the best from each area it studies. A few years back, they did one of their studies on Raleigh.
All said, I don't see Jax as the Hampton Roads twin. I prefer the Hampton Roads area over Jax (for now). Time will tell if that changes.
Norfolk and Jacksonville just may share more similarities with each other than with any other cities. Both border a body of water, have large Navy bases, and have downtown shopping centers. Both cities are also home to the headquarters of F500 railroad companies.
I used to live in Norfolk, great city and I loved going to Virginia Beach during the seasons where its usually cold up here in Ohio. Ive been to Jacksonville once and although I thought it was a nice place, I cant remember seeing any comparison to Norfolk. I feel there is no real comparison at all, but after all that article was from the same site that compared Jacksonville to Toledo???? Seriously???? C'mon Man!!!!
