Where I'm at now in Paw Paw it doesn't really have a famous well known name. They call the local car dealership "Two Paws Ford". I prefer to call it Squaw Paw.
Where I'm from originally , Clearwater, FL....back in the day it was reffered to as "Sparkling Clearwater". One of the commonly used jokes while I was growing up......If you saw someone wearing a pair of pants that they had outgrown especially if they were rapidly getting taller, You would say "This is Clearwater, not Highwater".
holy crap, someone that lives in Paw Paw?
i don't know if i know of any nicknames for it either, i could ask my mom!
New York City: (As a whole)
New York, NY The City So Nice They Named It Twice
Gotham (my favorite one)
The Big Apple
The City That Never Sleeps
The Capital Of The World
Empire City
Brooklyn:
The Borough Of Churches
The Borough Of Trees
BK
Staten Island:
The Forgotten Borough (nickname doesn't really hold as much weight anymore)
The Borough of Parks
The Bronx:
The X
The BX
Boogie Down (or The Boogie Down)
Manhattan:
The City
Queens:
The Crescent Borough (It extends North, East, and South of Brooklyn in a crescent shape)
Q-Borough
Queens is heavily "neighborhood" focused unlike the rest of the boroughs so it has few nicknames for just Queens.
Queens Neighborhoods:
South Jamaica, Queens = Southside (That's where I live)
Far Rockaway, Queens = Far Rock or The Rock
Hollis, Queens = Northside
I know there's more for Queens (and its neighborhoods).
Newark: (Only like 5 miles west of Manhattan and 2 miles northwest of Staten Island)
Brick City
This is just off the top of my head, I know there's more for all of NYC.
Buffalo, NY:
Queen City on the Lake - Buffalo being the 2nd largest city in the state after NYC.
Nickle City - Because of the indian head nickle
City of Light - First city with widespread streetlight/electrical systems
The City of Good Neighbors - for having friendly neighbors
